Scott Wallace, Editor of the local paper in Pierce's Crossing, Georgia, has his hands full making sure the community paper is published two times per week and sharing custody of his special needs son. But sometimes the news is more than just words on the page, and he finds himself gathering evidence and helping the local sheriff's department with crimes in Keowah County. When the wedding of the year involves a dead stranger, when a promising young woman is found dead on her parents' property on the Fourth of July, and when a 60-year-old hate crime cries out to be resolved, Scott becomes involved.

"The characters seemed like neighbors or family members. They were like me and you. The story was real and kept me on a journey of mystery, sympathy, compassion, and thankfulness. They all moved and lived in my mind as their individual stories unfurled in both painful and blissful ways."
